MIRIAM SOKOL.
Miriam Sokol, nee Rachlin (alias MADELEINE) was recruited in the winter of 1940/1941 by Trepper through the French Communist Party for his communication service in France. Trained in cyphers and WT by Grossvogel. With her husband established a transmitter in Paris which finally began transmissions in April 1942.

Acquantance of Claude Spaak and of his first wife, Suzanne.

Was arrested on 09-06-1942 with her husband after interception and location of the transmitter by the Germans.

Subsequently executed in Belgium.

Nationality: Polish Jewess.

Date of birth: 1703-1908 in Byelostok, or 06-10-1905 in Kowienska.

Description: doctor of Philosophy.


History.

A Communist. she lived in Belgium from 1929.

Married Hersz Sokol. Accompanied him on business trips to France and Switzerland.

As a result of her Communist activities was expelled with her husband from Belgium in 1938 and settled in France.

May have been interned in September 1939, simultaneously with her husband as a Polish Communist.

Probably released after the German occupation in the autumn of 1940.
