There is only one point which we are not entirely happy in this set, and that is the fitting in of the date of issue of the identity card with the rest of the documents.
This date (29-12-1941) presumably coincides with a period of leave between his Abmunsterung from the Brigitte and his Anmusterung on the Gouwe, but there is nothing in his seaman's book to suggest this; we think he should have an entry on pafe 7 such as "Heimatsurlaub" vom ..." and the dates. You may however have proof that this is not always done.
An additional point is that we have several original Dutch Identity cards issued to sailors from whom the address is given as "aan boord" during a voyag, and subsequently changed when they are ashore and we are not sure that this should not have been the procedure in this case; it is however possible that in the case of someone with next-of-kin having a permanent address that this would be indicated
