Marguerite (Grete) Barcza, nee Singer, alias LE BLONDE.

Was mistress of Gurevich from May 1940 until his disappearance in 1945. Aware of his activities as leader of a Soviet agent network in Belgium and France, but probably not deeply implicated. Unlikely to have been in touch with R.U. since her separation from Gurevich, but is likely to continue attemts to discover and rejoin him.

History.

Married Ernst Barcza, Hungarian hop merchant, in 1932.
Emigrated from Saaz to Prague in 1938.
Entered Belgium on 24-04-1939 as a refugee from Prague with husband and child.
In March 1940 Ernst Barcza died.
Became mistress of Gurevich in May 1940.
Fled from Brussels in December 1941 to Paris and thence to Marseilles, where she was joined by Gurevich on 20-01-1942.
Was arrested on 12-11-1942 by the Gestapo in Marseilles with Gurevich. Taken to RSHA, Amt IV, Rue des Saussaies, Paris, to Breendonck and Alexanderplatz Prison in Berlin.
In January 1943 returned to Paris and held in Fresnes prison.
On 02-07-1943 she was taken to Marseilles under German escort.
On 09-07-1943 joined Gurevich in 40 Boulevard Victor Hugo, Neuilly, Paris, under German supervision.
Visited Marseilles in October 1943 to fetch her son.
Circa 20-04-1944 gave birth to Gurevich child Michel in Paris.
Circa 30-04-1944 joined Gurevich and Jeffremov in 63 Rue de Courcelles, Paris.
Was taken by train in August 1944 to Karlsruhe, where she was twice visited by Gurevich.
Was transferred to pension in Frierichsrode on 27-09-1944 after the bombing of Karlsruhe
Received visit of Gurevich of circa three weeks duration around 02-11-1944, whom she nursed through an illness.
Was visited by Gurevich on 13-12-1944 and 14-02-1945.
Received last letter from Gurevich on 27-03-1945, of whom she heard no more.
By the arrival of US troops in Friedrichsrode on 08-04-1945 she was interrogated regarding Gurevich.
In July 1945 substitution of Soviet occupation forces, who failed to assist Marguerite Barcza to obtain news of Gurevich.
By the end of 1945 contrived repatriation to France on a false identity document. revealed her history to the French authorities. released after one week from Lille Surete.
Was liberated in May 1946 from Ecrouves repariation camp. She addresses for subsequent movements.
from 1946 till 1947 endeavoured to obtain news from Gurevich from former associates, without success. Sought authority to emigrate to the USA to join her mother and brother.
