LEON BEURTON.
Leon Charles Beurton, alias Leon Charles Fenton, alias John William Miller, alias JOHN.

Was a member of a Swiss network working successively under Ursula Beurton and Radó. Unenthusiastic and ineffectual agent between 1939 and 1942.

Was recruited in the UK in the Spring of 1939.

Was trained in Frankfurt am Main and Munich under direction of Ursula Beurton from Switzerland in August 1939.

Trained in WT by Ursula between September 1939 and the Spring of 1940.

Italy's entry into war prevented proposed departure with Ursula and Foote to Romania in June 1940.

Was co-operator of Ursula's transmitter from circa August until December 1940.

Started training of Hamel and operation of transmitter in Geneva in December 1940.

Between March 1941 and July 1942 relieved of transmitter by Hamel. Broke off contact with Radó shortly after. Provided Foote with intelligence from Wang.

Fought in the International Brigade between January 1937 and December 1938.

Visited Ursula Beurton in Vevey on 13-02-1939.

Living first in Frankfurt am Main, subsequently with Foote in Munich in the Spring and Summer of 1939. Visited Ursula for two weeks in Montreux in June and again in August

Entered Switzerland at St. Margarethen, possibly on 08-01-1939.

Married Ursula Hamburger on 23-02-1940.

Left Switzerland on Moscow's orders on July 11th, 1942.

Arrived in the UK from Lisbon on July 28th, 1942.

Was still in Chipping Norton, employed as a machine fitter. Active in local Communist Party in 1948.
