GUILLAUME HOORICKX.
Guillaume Hoorickx, alias BILL.

Probably a conscious agent of the Gurevich network in Belgium from the autumn of 1940 until the end of 1942, when arrested.

Introduced in September 1940 in Ixelles by his wife to Marakov and later to Gurevich. recruited as an informant; also used as a courier on his visits to France for the Red Cross.
Was taken into Simexco somewhere in February of March 1941 as a buyer by Gurevich, which enabled him to become a regular courier to Simex in Paris, carrying intelligence material between Gurevich and Alfred Corbin.
He first met Trepper in April or May 1941 in Simexco.
Somewhere in July 1941 he withdrew, with Henri Rauch, from Simexco was probably made on Trepper's instructions, to provide extra cover.
During the spring of 1942 he collected from Claude Spaak in Paris identity documents which he had received from Harry Sokol, of Trepper's network in France.

History.

Was working for the Red Cross in 1940.

Became buyer for Simexco, Brussels in 1941and had a link with Simex in Paris.

In June or July 1941 formed with Charles Daniel and Henri Rauch a separate firm in 192 Rue Royale Brussels, ostensibly withdrawing from Simexco.

Was arrested on 28-12-1942 in Rixensart together with Rauch. Subsequently deported to Mauthausen, Austria.

Was liberated from the Mauthausen camp on 19-08-1945.

Guillaume Hoorickx otherwise Willem Hoorickx (12 April 1900 - 31 October 1983) was a Belgian ice hockey player. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1928 Winter Olympics. During World War II, he worked as an agent for Victor Sukolov (Gurevich) in the Red Orchestra network. He was imprisoned in the Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp.
He was also an artist, under the name Bill Orix. A collection of his works is held by the Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts de Belgique.
